10 Blog SEO Strategies to Get 1 MILLION Readers Each Month (SEO for Bloggers) in 2023

Let`s get started with what you should be doing before, during and after you create a post.  1. Nail your keyword research

 GET KEYWORD IDEAS

The most fundamental element of all SEO strategies starts with learning how to do keyword research—and finding great keyword opportunities to rank for.  New blogs also have lower domain authority (when you first make a website) and thus don`t carry the same weight as older, more reputable websites. As a result, ranking for more competitive keywords can be challenging, and your efforts in promoting your blog will take more time to pay off.  If you are new to blogging, the best types of keywords to  rank for are:

 low difficulty

 Large capacity

 high CTR

The goal is to find 3-5 key keywords (1-3 word phrases) and 1-2 long tail keywords (the whole phrase people are looking for). Long-tail keywords have less traffic and competition but equal value. You want to pick a term in the same niche. This is something Google emphasized as important in a recent update to useful content. So how do you find elusive, high-value long-tail keywords? If you`re looking to really level-up your keyword game and opt for a robust, paid tool, check out Ahrefs and SEMrush to take your SEO game out of this world. These are two ultra-popular SEO analysis tools, and you`ll be in good hands with either one.  The most significant difference between the two is while both are excellent keyword researchers, Ahrefs has the edge if you`re looking to analyze what backlinks your competitors have. This will come in come in handy when finding where your competitors are getting mentioned, so you can do the same!

 2. Focus on user intent (not search engines)

Gone are the days when mentioning your keyword as many times as humanly possible is what got you ranked. Google's algorithms have gotten smarter, and today it's important to consider quality content and  user intent (what people  find when they type a word or phrase into a search engine). Luckily, when people are looking for something, they don't need Spock's ability to connect their thoughts to figure out what they're actually looking for.

How long is your competitor's post? Blog posts must be at least the same length.  What resources can I add? Think videos, useful websites, downloadable templates (like my blog post templates). Which concept could you better explain  or expand on?  If you are a reader, which post will be more helpful to you?  Writing a 10,000 word blog post just because you think  you have to do it won't improve your SEO.  Blog SEO Strategies for Bloggers to Get More Search Traffic in 2023 Snippet

Blog SEO Example of Featured Snippet Ranking in Search Results

You`ll notice that while featured snippets answer the user`s question right away, more often than not, it`s too small to provide a complete answer directly within the box.  So, people click on your link to get the full story, and your article can get a major boost from this placement—making it a major blog SEO win.

 3. Invest some time in crafting SEO-friendly blog titles.

You can write some of the best blog posts the internet boasts, but if  your audience can't click on your blog title and read your article,  it doesn't exist. And people should click on your post because the more people read, share, and like it, the more people will see what they're looking for on Google  when they search for your keywords. Google rewards high CTR with higher search ranking. Need an eye-catching blog title idea? Get Title Ideas

The first thing to do when learning how to write a headline is to tell your readers how they can benefit from your blog post.  And we must keep that promise. But if the headline makes exaggerated claims and doesn't match the content, it's clickbait.  Avoid at all costs. If you don't keep your promise to your readers, your readers' trust will be destroyed and  you will hurt rather than help. Clickbait titles also increase your bounce rate, lowering your site's ranking. The second step is to make your headline irresistible. The best headlines blend a tried and tested formula with a balance of common, unique, emotional and powerful words.

4. Use the right heading tags

Heading tags (H-tags) are formatting options you can apply to the content of your post.  Rather than changing font sizes to emphasize headings, you should select your heading sizes from the menu. Here's how to select header formats (also known as header tags) in both the WordPress content editor and  Google Docs.

Blog SEO Strategies and Tips How to Choose a Heading Format in WordPress

A proper title is very important for SEO.  Google crawls them to discover the main points of your content, which is absolutely essential for proper on-page SEO  in particular. Here's how to  use them correctly for search engine optimization, in order of importance. Heading 1: Can only be used once and is usually reserved for headings. Specify your primary keywords here.  Heading 2: The main idea of the post. They are also important for SEO and are a great place to cover keywords and long tails alike. Look at mine and you'll know I did. Heading 3: A subtopic or small idea that belongs to H2. This article introduces 10 SEO tips for bloggers. You can also add keywords here. Headings 4-6: Used to format and style the page. Lowest SEO value. “Want to improve the SEO of your blog? You should include your target keyword in the first 100 words of your blog post."

 5. Page URL Optimization

The URL of your blog post is crawled by search engines and is an important way  to learn about the content of your article. This is a valuable opportunity to include your target keywords. In the process of writing the article, I made sure to include the main keywords in the URL slug to better optimize the article for blog SEO. You  need  enough words for the reader to understand what the link is about. Some other blog SEO tips for choosing smart URLs are to use only  lowercase letters and keep slugs under 50-60 characters to avoid duplicate content. Shorter URLs are better.

6. Use your links strategically.

This means that search engine website crawlers skim through the text and look for keywords. But did you know that we pay special attention to related keywords? To them, linked keywords have more weight than non-linked words and phrases.

 7. Write an engaging meta description

The meta description is the text displayed after the title in search results.

Google highlights  words in the meta description that match what the user is looking for. This helps readers connect what they are looking for with what is on your site. Click "Edit Fragments" in the Yoast section of the WP Content Editor and you will see options. The benefits for readers are clear. Readers know why they should click on you and not on the link below. Include 1 or 2 keywords: This is to make the keywords match the user's search query, in bold, and to clarify the content of the article. Remember that keywords should still be used naturally.

8. Optimize your images

Many people forget that optimizing your images also gives you another big blog SEO boost.  Because search engines can`t “see” a picture the way you and I do, they look at the image file`s description—both the title and image alt text—to understand and categorize your images.  This is especially important for primary images, as they are often  pinned, shared, and indexed in image search results.  For example, you could name an image "before-after-blog-seo.jpg" when "blog SEO" is your target keyword, and the image could be a graph showing your blog traffic before and after optimization.

9. Ensure mobile friendliness and reduce page loading times

Have you ever been in a rush while grocery shopping and felt relief when there was an empty checkout lane…

And then remember how fast your joy was cut short when you realized you picked the one with the only cashier-in-training?  People won`t stick around if you keep making them stare at blank pages, and the major search engines don`t like it either. Changing to one of the best hosting plans to speed up your site

The simple fact though, is that it does cost some money to blog, and you`ll likely have some of your own budget constraints. Depending upon your situation, you may need to choose from only the cheapest hosting plans, budget-conscious shared hosting options or even free hosting plans that come with some restrictions on the speed front. If so, then that`s ok.

 10. Promote your content

If you are new to blogging, you may still feel connected to  your blog content.  You just want to write, write, write... write  more. But if your blogging goal is to drive traffic and increase your domain authority…

You should spend 20% of your time writing and the other 80% promoting your content.  As a blogger, promoting your content  will make or break you. Spend 20% of your time writing and 80% of your time promoting. Share new content on social media: People don't check your site every day for updated content. Make everyone's life easier by sharing your post and promoting it on social media. You never know, you might luck out and go viral.  Continuing to promote older posts: You don`t have to reinvent the wheel every time. Take what you have, update it, improve it and re-share it with a few different titles to see what gets more social media attention.

Work on some of the other elements of your blog SEO strategy when you have the time—and be sure your SEO work always ladders up to your overall blogging strategy.
